Preston Basketball is delighted to announce a new Junior Basketball partnership with Myerscough Basketball Academy. This joint venture is a coming together of 2 successful basketball programmes to create more opportunity to play, compete and thrive for junior players in the area. This will see Preston & Myerscough Juniors enter the Basketball England National League initially at Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 age groups for the forthcoming season.
Both clubs will continue to run their regional league and development programmes and Preston Basketball will shortly announce an additional session aimed at newcomers to the sport, to create a full pathway from beginner to elite level competition. The senior element of Preston Basketball and Elite Academy at Myerscough will remain unchanged.
Preston Basketball Directors Andy and Sam believe that this joint venture opens up significantly more opportunity for current and future basketball players at the club and will create capacity at the club where current player numbers are set to exceed 300 for the first time in the club's history. Andy commented "this is the next stage in the development for Preston Basketball where we can provide an expanded offering that is tailored to the needs of our players wherever they are on their journey. Collaborating with the local talent not just from a player perspective but also from a coaching perspective should happen more in basketball as a whole, so we are excited to take this step to benefit our community. From a performance perspective it's exciting to see how far the players can develop and we are sure this venture will accelerate their progress."
Further information on the sessions offered will be released over the coming weeks as we expand the schedule and look forward to the new academic year.
