Following on from our recent announcement expanding our Junior competitive offering with Myerscough Basketball Academy, we have been working behind the scenes to offer more playing opportunities for our youngest players across the club and the local area.

New session launching - Under 9 & 11 - Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm - Cardinal Newman College

As of the week commencing 22/09/2025, a new session will start for newcomers to the sport in Years 3-6. Our inbox is full of enquiries for the youngest age group sessions which are already vibrant and full of enthusiastic players so the expansion will allow the club to welcome more players to come and try the sport.

The new session timetable will look like this;

Tuesdays 5.30-6.30pm @ Cardinal Newman College - Combined Under 9&11 sessions with Coach Craig - aimed at the newest players who want to experience basketball for the first time, including skills development and exposure to basketball.

Thursday 6-7pm @ Cardinal Newman College - Under 9 session with Coach Neal - aimed at our established members, with an emphasis on game play, tactics and skill development.

Thursday 7-8pm @ Cardinal Newman College with Coach Neal - aimed at our established members, with an emphasis on game play, tactics and skill development.

It is worth mentioning that any current members who would benefit from the new session on Tuesdays can switch sessions from now, we just ask that you make the coaches aware. We appreciate that one evening may be more viable than the other due to other commitments, or due to the difference in session aims, which is fine also. We kindly ask that players do not attend both sessions each week, as we aim to provide basketball for as many local children as possible, and do not want to cap session numbers where possible, whilst remaining Health and Safety compliant.

For newcomers, the first session is free to try and thereafter players attending either of these sessions can sign up to the direct debit using the appropriate link below;

The above changes also have a slight knock-on effect for our Under 14 and Under 16 players. Where previously the Tuesday slot was reserved for newcomers to the Under 14 age group, this session will merge with our Under 16 newcomer slot and be on Mondays 5.30-6.30. This allows us to have the maximum number of players down each week to provide high-level basketball sessions.
