Preston Pride is highly commended in three Preston Sports categories.

Committee members, coaches, parents, wives and girlfriends descended on the Guild Hall in Preston for the 14th annual Preston Sports awards. After a turn-around season for the club in terms of finances and participation, hopes were high for returning with some winners medals.

Hopes were high as Preston Pride had been shortlisted in three total categories: Coach Shaun Hoyle, for coach of the year. Treasurer, Andrew Thrower for over 25 Volunteer of the year. The club was also shortlisted for the Community Organisation of the year award.

After introductions at the bar, Pride's 15 strong troop headed to their tables for a two-course dinner and some entertainment in the form of a dance performance and live music. Followed by various speeches and then onto the awards:

First up, Preston Sports: Coach of the Year. Up against some talented individuals, Coach Shaun had his work cut out, especially with four total nominees! Eventually, Daniel Jude, of Larches Boxing Club came away with the award. Shaun graciously accepted a Highly Commended award in the category. The club really appreciates all of the innovative planning and hard work Shaun has put into his team and players this season.

After a few more awards...

It was the turn of Andrew Thrower and the Preston Sports; Over 25 Volunteer of the Year award. Behind the scenes, Andy's first year on the committee has been vital to the clubs existence, this season. His financial and negotiating expertise has really dragged the club from a questionable position. However, the honour was awarded to Laura Rushton, who does equally as valuable work with local youth football. The club really thanks Andy for his professionalism and general organisation with all things basketball, and hope he can continue to commit his time, even with his growing family, over the coming years.

Following to well deserved Highly Commended awards. Pride was hoping to bring one winner's trophy back to St. Augustines. Continuing the trend for the evening; it wasn't to be as Sir Tom Finney Preston Soccer Centre took the Community Organisation Award for their unrivalled work with disability groups and activation sessions for refugees. Pride take home their third and final Highly Commended Award for a successful evening.

The committee would like to thank everyone who is involved in the club for their hard work this season, and invite all club members to join us for our own awards night hosted at the Invincibles Lounge, Preston North End! Stay tuned for more information on tickets over the coming days!
